by Q: Are todays golfers better than ......
Do you think today's golfers are better than golfers of yesteryear or has technology just made that much of a difference?
I think golfers of previous generations were better players. They had so much more to contend with other than merely swinging a golf club. Today's golfers have the benefits of exact yardage markers, sprinkler heads with yardage, high tech equipment, perfectly manicured fairways, greens, and bunkers, the game is just a little easier now than it was back then. With the advantage of swing gurus and video analysis, many of today's golfers are like robots; with mechanical precision rather than displaying the creativity and imagination that golfers of a generation or two ago were forced to adopt. I think if you put today's equipment in the hands of Bobby Jones and Ben Hogan, they would be every bit as good - if not better - than today's players.
